MANDATORY General Meeting for Current Members

We are having a General Meeting on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2 IN PAMPLIN 1008 AT 7PM. This meeting is MANDATORY for all members. If you can not make this meeting for any reason please email me with the reason.

FOOD WILL BE PROVIDED BY PANERA BREAD, so don’t eat dinner and come out to have some food. We will discuss numerous topics on what we want the club to do the rest of the semester as well as next year. Email me if you have any questions or concerns.

KPMG Information Session

We are hosting an information session with KPMG on Wednesday, October 28 at 5:00pm in Pamplin 1045. Come out to hear what KPMG has to offer in the IT field and come listen to different job opportunities available for BIT. Hope to you see you there.

GAO Information Session

We are hosting a GAO Information Session Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Pamplin 1004 at 5:30PM. The Government Accountability Office is listed as the second best place to work for in the federal government. The GAO is looking for full time, co-op and intern students, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to work for one of the most prestigious federal agencies out there. Come out to hear what they have to say about IT in the federal government.

Excella Information Session

As we are getting things kicked off this year one of the great events we have planned is a talk on:

SCRUM and Software Development for a corporate application on Tuesday, October 6th from 5 to 6 pm.

Wraps or Sandwiches will be provided by Excella, so they have requested a head count to prepare for. If the field of software development interests you, or you would like to find out more on how SCRUM is used in a real life setting, this is a great opportunity. Plus, it is a great way for you to network with Art Lucia who operates Excella’s office in our very own Corporate Research Center.

Again, the talk is tomorrow from 5-6pm in Pamplin 1008.

Information Session with Deloitte

We are hosting an information with Deloitte on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 5:30pm in PAMPLIN 1001. Deloitte is one of the big four accounting firms. We are hosting an information with Accenture on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 6:00pm in PAMPLIN 1003. Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. They were rated one of the top 100 places to work by Fortune magazine and are a Fortune 500 company. Come out to hear how Accenture and IT are related and what opportunities they offer. Also Accenture is also looking for full-time and interns so don’t miss out on this opportunity to work for one of top consulting firms out there.

BIT Club First Interest Meeting

The BIT Club (Thats us!) will be holding an interest meeting Tuesday, September 8th, at 5:00PM in Pamplin 1008. Free Pizza and soda will be provided for those who attend.

Meeting

We’re having a meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 7:00PM in Pamplin 1003 to discuss some of the upcoming events and initative we want to pursure for next semester. We will try to go over things such as t-shirts, a lan party, and developing a consulting initiative and will form committes to deal with these so this is a great opportunity to take an active leadership opportunity in your club.

ASME Web Site Launches

The Virginia Tech chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers has launched it’s new website. The new web site design is a partnership between the BIT Club and the ASME chapter at Virginia Tech in order to help promote cross-club collaboration. If you’re interested in partnering with the BIT Club just shoot Bharat Khanna an e-mail with your idea.
